1. David Li to be Huawei India CEO

  • Huawei Telecommunication India has announced the appointment of David Li as the Chief Executive Officer of its India operations
  • Li will succeed Jay Chen, who moves on take up a leadership role within Huawei Pacific Region
  • Founded in 1987, Huawei is a leading global provider of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Infrastructure and Smart Devices.

2. RBI increased WMA limit for states/ ITs

  • RBI has revised the limit for Ways and Means Advance (WMA) for the remaining part of the first half of FY21 to Rs. 2 lakh crore
  • On March 31, 2020, the WMA limit for the first half of FY21 was upped to 1.20 lakh crore against Rs. 75,000 crore in the year-ago period
  • This has been done to tide over the situation arising from the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.

3. Caladium Investment hiked stake in Bandhan Bank

  • Caladium Investment, an affiliate of Singapore's GIC, has increased its stake in Bandhan Bank to 4.49% as on March 31, 2020
  • Caladium Investment held 7.22 crore shares in Bandhan Bank at the end go the fourth quarter of last fiscal
  • It had a stake of 3.39% in the bank at the end of the third quarter as on December 31, 2019.

4. Financial support to MyLab Discovery Solutions

  • The Technology Development Board (TDB) has approved financial support to MyLab Discovery Solutions, Pune, for ramping up production of COVID-19 diagnostic kits
  • MyLab Discovery Solutions is the first indigenous company to develop real-time PCR based molecular diagnostic kit which screens and detects COVID-19 from samples
  • The kit has been approved by ICMR and CDSCO.

5. IREDA to handle CPSU Scheme Phase-II: MNRE

  • The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has appointed the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) and the implementing agency to handle the Central Public Sector Undertaking Scheme Phase-II
  • All issues regarding time-extension and dispute resolution will also be dealt with by IREDA
  • In the existing clauses, the Solar Energy Corporation India (SECI) handled the scheme.

6. Tiranga vehicle launched in Kerala

  • Tiranga initiative has been launched by the Pathanamthitta district administration, to make it easier to screen people for COVID-19, without the risk of exposure
  • Under this, 3 people sit behind the closed doors and windows of a van, two of them ask questions to a person standing outside
  • questions on fever symptoms and travel history are asked, and temperature is also checked.

7. N Kamakodi reappointed MD, CEO of CUB

  • The Reserve Bank of India has given its approval for the re-appointed of N Kamakodi as MD & CEO of City Urban Bank (CUB) for three years with effect from May 1, 2020
  • N Kamakodi has been associated with the Kumbaonam (Tamil Nadu) - Headquartered City Union Bank since 2003
  • He was elevated as MD and CEO in 2011.

8. Central Government to conduct telephonic survey

  • The Central government will conduct a telephonic survey to gather feedback from people on the prevalence distribution of COVID-19 symptoms
  • The Health Ministry has informed the people that it is a genuine survey and requested them to participated to enable proper feedback on COVID-19 symptoms
  • Citizens will get calls in their mobile phones by NIC and number 1921.

9. Volvo & Daimler Truck set up Joint Venture

  • Volvo and the Truck Division of Daimler have agreed to set up a joint venture to develop and produce fuel cell systems for heavy vehicles
  • The two firms said that they will be equal partners in the new enterprise
  • Daimler Truck will put all its current fuel cell activities into the Joint Venture, and the Volvo Group will buy a 50% stake in the venture for around 600 million euros.

10. Rajasthan Government partnered with 'Aayu' App

  • Rajasthan government has partnered with healthcare startup MedCords to provide 24x7 online consultation and medicine delivery to the people of Rajasthan
  • Through its integrated solution - Aayu & Sehat Sathi App, MedCords will help over 68 million of people in Rajasthan through this collaboration
  • The app is currently helping 10,000+ patients per day.
