1. China to host 2021 Asian Youth Games


  • The Olympic Council of Asia has announced that China will host the third edition of the Asian Youth Games in Shantou from November 20-28, 2021
  • The 2021 Asian Youth Games will have 18 sports including athletics, aquatics, badminton, 3x3 basketball, beach volleyball, etc.
  • The Asian Youth Games were first held in Singapore in 2011 and then in Nanjing in China in 2023.

2. Bangladesh to use AI for Corona management

  • The government of Bangladesh will utilise Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the management of Coronavirus spread in the country
  • The AI-powered insight will help the government to set its next course of action to fight Coronavirus
  • PM Sheikh Hasina has ordered that at least 2 samples from each Upzila may be tested from 3 April 2020 to get better picture of the spread of Corona in the country.

3. JNCASR developed a coating

  • Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) has developed a one-step curable anti-microbial coating
  • The coating, when coated on different surfaces such as texture, plastic and so on could kill a range of virus types including COVID-19
  • This covalent coating has been found to completely kill influenza virus as well as resistant pathogenic and fungi.

4. SCTIMST tied up with Wipro 3D

  • Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) has joined hands with Wipro 3D to build a prototype of an emergency ventilator system
  • The ventilator system is going to be based on an Artificial Manual Breathing Unit (AMBU), developed by the institute
  • AMBU bag is a hand-held device used to provide positive pressure ventilation to a patient who is not treating.

5. Winners of the Adhunik Gram program

  • Indigram Labs Foundation has announced the winners of its smart village program - 'Adhunik Gram', an initiative to empower agribusiness in rural India 
  • The winner, Indus Till FarmeTech Pvt. Ltd., won a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh
  • The Ist runner up, Urdhvan Environmental Technologies Pvt. Ltd., won Rs. 50,000 and the 2nd runner up, Impagra Farming Solution Pvt. Ltd. won Rs. 30,000.

6. Assistance worth Rs. 5,000 to rickshaw driver

  • Delhi government will provide financial assistance worth Rs. 5,000 each to all auto-rickshaw, Gramin-sewa, E-rickshaw and taxi-drivers in wake of difficulties faced by them amid lockdown situation
  • The amount will be transferred into their bank account
  • This was stated by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal during a digital press conference in the national capital on 2 April 2020.

7. SBI listed $100 mn green bonds on India INX

  • SBI has listed green bonds of USD 100 millions (about Rs. 750 crore) on its listing platform
  • The bank has listed green bonds of USD 100 millions under its USD 10 billion global medium term note programmer on India INX's Global Securities Market Green Platform (GSM)
  • The State Bank of India (SBI) has earlier also listed its maiden green bond issuance of India INX of USD 650 million

8. Rs 25/day for each animal for April: Gujarat

  • Gujarat government has announced financial assistance of Rs 25 per day for each animal for April 2020 for all registered Gau Shala in the state
  • CM Vijay Rupani announced this to save the animals live stocks and taking care of financial crunches being faced by the administrators of registered Gau Shalas
  • The decision will put additional burden of approximately RS 35 crore on state exchequer.

9. Naval Dockyard designed a temperature sensor

  • The Naval Dockyard in Mumbai has developed a low-cost hand-held temperature sensor to screen its personnel in light of the coronavirus outbreak
  • As many as 20,000 personnel enter the 285-year-old naval dock and Western Naval Command in South Mumbai every day
  • The infrared-technology-based sensor is manufactured using in-house resources under Rs. 1,000.

10. NBT India released online Questionnaire

  • National Book Trust has released online questionnaire to Assess Community Perception about the Psycho-Social Impact of COVID-19
  • The questionnaire set in Hindi-English of 7 segments aims at assessing Pshyco-Social Impact of COVID-19 and the Lockdown and How to Cope
  • It is intended to create a conducive environment for community participation and sharing of emotions in the lockdown period.
